“You’re not a failure because you’ve decided to release something that no longer serves you.”
If you have been struggling to decide if it’s time to let go, tune in to today’s pep talk.
I’m sharing a simple question that will empower you to finally walk away.
I want to answer the question, “How do you know when it’s time to let go?” And if we’re honest with ourselves, by the time we’re asking the question, it’s been time to let go.
But what keeps us stuck and confined to things, people, and relationships that are no longer serving us is how letting go feels like we’re quitters or that we’ve given up or that we failed in some way. Although that’s not true, that’s how it feels. And so I want to invite you to ask a different question. I want you to ask yourself, “Why am I staying?” Why am I staying in the relationship, on the job, in the partnership? And I want you to take a good, honest, hard look at the answer. More than likely, the answer is for nothing.
For nothing.
It doesn’t serve you. It doesn’t make you feel good. And it’s not making you happy. If the answer is nothing, I want you to look at it as releasing the relationship, the job, the partnership, or whatever it is that you’re holding on to, as opposed to quitting and giving up.
Release, by definition, is to remove from confinement, to set free, or to surrender. I want you to see yourself releasing the relationship and setting yourself free. Releasing the partnership. Releasing the job. And removing yourself from confinement.
You’re not a failure because you’ve made a decision to release something that no longer serves you. It’s not just quitting. It’s not just giving up. You’re not a failure. You are setting yourself free.
So don’t ask whether it’s time to let go. Ask the question, Why am I staying?” And if the answer is for nothing, I want you to let it go.
Until next time, I hope this helps.
